We are very early in the outdoor track season, but you cannot tell by the way the girls are performing at Bonner & Prendie! The girls are in pure championship form only two weeks into the season and aiming to get better!
There have been three total meets so far this season with four school records already broken!
Alaina Johnson continues her impressive performances in the hurdle events. On Tuesday, April 12th, Alaina broke the ten year old 100 hurdle record, previously held by Maura Simone (2007) and Tracey Olszewski (2007), with a time of 15.7, which would convert to a 15.94! The previous record was recorded at 16.11!
Alaina also broke her own 300 hurdle record, set last year at PCL Championships. Alaina ran a 47.1, which would convert to a 47.34.
Not only are track events heating up, but the girls are also heating up the field! Hannah Oropollo broke her school record in the pole vault TWICE already this season. On April 5th, Hannah cleared 8 feet, only to break that height a week later with a vault of 8 feet 6 inches, barely missing 9 feet! With the sophomore's strong focus and positive attitude, we expect this record to be broken multiple times again this season!
Hannah continued her impressive streak last week in the triple jump, breaking her own school record from a year ago with a jump of 31 feet 7 and a half inches! She also has her own personal goals to continue extending this record! Hannah's strong focus and determination is given a little boost with a friendly competition between her and junior Liz McKeaney.
Along with these two, Jewel Ford and Sam Gliwa have already qualified in PCL, DELCO, and District 12 championships in their events on the track!
Liz McKeaney, Hannah Bierling, Kianna Elam, and Paris Banks have also qualified in multiple field events for championship season.
